Decent numbers of shorebirds continue at Mitchell Lake. The sand bar can now be accessed from the levee with rubber boots. Mid morning the birds were very flighty as if they had recently been harassed by a falcon though none was seen. In contrast they allowed me to approach rather close at times. Good viewing can be obtained by using the makeshift duck blind that was left along the waters edge about mid lake along the bar. From here you can scope and remain partially hidden and birds will settle back in around you in a few minutes. Much needed heavy rain cut my trip a little short.
