I was watching a busy wave of birds in my backyard, and when I scanned
into the woods, I noticed 3 yellow-rumped warblers rummaging through the
leaves. At first I thought they were finches or sparrows, but then I saw
the yellow spots on their butts. I observed a yellow spot on one of
their heads, and one of the other ones had a yellow spot on its wing.
I'm not sure if it's significant enough to report here, but I'm excited
to have seen my first "uncommon" bird at my house.
