Last evening, 6-5-03 I counted 7 Whipoorwills in NW Grayson Co. I started at dusk . These birds were heard within a driving diistance of approx 4 miles with elapsed time of 45 mins. These were the first I'd heard this year. I did not hear any Chuck-wills-widow. Actually I had not been out driving this route prior to last night for this year. But normally I'm alerted the their presence in in the woodland close to where I live. But not this year.
