Hi Tommy
I have seen Tree Swallows in Martin houses and was planning on putting one
up here in our heavily wooded area that may be too woodsy for martins.
Did some research after receiving some good leads from Steve Tyson and
learned that Tree swallows like their space and will usually fight with
other tree swallows trying to nest too close. Thus Bluebird boxes are
supposedly more likely to be used by them.
In years past I have seen starlings and house sparrows nest in Martin
houses that were put up or opened up too soon.
How large in your house and how many pairs seem to be nesting? Will be
interesting to hear how many last. Keep us posted please.

In our new martin house I have recently seen tree swallows flying in and
out of it, but no martins. Anyone else had different birds in their
martin
houses?
