Friday afternoon in traffic I watched a crow harassing a Red-tailed hawk about
a ¼ mile ahead of where I was cornered by rush hour traffic. The hawk was
sitting atop a very tall power pole, the crow swinging back and forth above him
in an arcing motion, much like the mating flight of a hummer. After many passes
the crow, no doubt tired, flew down the line a bit to land and rest. The hawk
came up just as the crow set down and went hard after the crow. There was
contact but I could not see loose feathers from where I was. They disappeared
with the crow in pursuit.

We saw one exactly the same way a few years ago back of our house in
near-downtown Lexington. But with a different outcome. It was a single crow,
and when the owl charged it, it made itself very scarce.

I was out working in the yard when I heard crows making racket. I thought
something must be up and went to investigate. When I got to the action I found
four Crows harassing a Great Horned Owl. They cased the owl to a nearby tree
and then further off while in hot pursuit.
