Species present on the front sloughs at Ballard this afternoon include: Pied-b grebe 2 Canada goose 2 Mallard 300 Northern shoveler 1 Gadwall 150 American widgeon 25 Ring-necked duck 15 Bufflehead 1 Ruddy duck 2 In addition to these many ducks are back in the brush and flooded timber out of sight. Many more are also on nearby private hunting club fields. The combination of duck season opening Thursday and the cold front which moved through last night may very well fill up the front sloughs with ducks in the next few days.
