Bill Pike and headed out to Shawnee Park this morning with hopes that a few birds might have blown in with the cold front. We were richly rewarded. There were birds everywhere, and it stayed busy even into mid-afternoon, when we finally knocked off after six hours. Lots and lots of warblers, a great many of which were up too high in the trees and moving too fast to ID. Highlights were two northern waterthrushes in the open on the path along the golf course and a male golden-winged warbler that hung around in plain sight for several minutes while trying to pretend he was a chickadee. Also had a nice look at a blue-headed vireo. Next cold front Saturday....
