Yesterday morning, Eddie Huber and I visited Happy Valley outside South Williamson in Pike County (home of Joan Carr and Les Estep). Their Rufous Hummingbird was very accommodating and she quickly had a band ... another immature female Rufous. Including the adult male that was photographed in Trigg County earlier in the fall, this makes 8 confirmed Rufous in the following counties (west to east) this year: Trigg, Barren, Hart, Wayne, Lincoln, Pulaski, Menifee, and Pike. On our return trip west, we visited Yatesville Lake WMA in Lawrence County in hopes of seeing a Black-capped Chickadee. We *may* have seen one, but it got away before we could get a confirming look. There were no feeders going in Blaine, Ky., unfortunately. We did see a tardy or wintering Gray Catbird, probably at least 8-10 Red-breasted Nuthatches and Hermit Thrushes, 6-8 or more Fox Sparrows, and a few Ruby-crowned Kinglets among good numbers of commoner songbirds. bpb & ebh, Louisville ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
