I had an opportunity to swing by Morgan's Pond in southern Christian County yesterday. Was surprised to find a small pool of water present, along with a nice assemblage of birds: Mallards (including two broods of young) Canada Geese (4 broods) 1 male Blue-winged Teal 1 Semi Plover Killdeer 1 male Black-necked Stilt 1 or 2 Spotted Sandpipers 40 Semi Sandpipers 40 White-rumped Sandpipers 1 Dunlin The military is still keeping close tabs on this site (which I guess will only last a few more days); if you visit the site, you may be visited by MPs who ask you to move on??? I haven't looked into the situation since earlier in the spring. At nearby Swallow Spring (on KY 107 N of I-24) there were: 1 ad and 1 juv Pied-billed Grebe 2 broods of Mallards 1 brood (8 chicks) of Blue-winged Teal with a ma' and pa' bpb, Louisville brainard.palmer-ball@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== The BIRDKY Mailing List requires you to sign your messages with first & last name, city, & state abbreviation. -------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Kentucky Ornithological Society web site at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison, Richmond, KY E-mail: gary.ritchison@xxxxxxx
