Hi all,
It was a nice cool morning at Minor Clark today with 67 species. There's
only a handful of shorebirds left from last week... hopefully more will
come in during the next few days. Rumor has it 15 ponds are scheduled to
come down this week, so habitat should be plentiful. There was also a nice
raptor and songbird showing today.
Highlights:
Shorebirds
1 American Golden Plover (I hadn't seen the one from last week in 3 days,
so possibly a new one? If so, would be my 8th individual this fall)
3 Semipalmated Plover
40+ Killdeer
1 Spotted Sandpiper
3 Lesser Yellowlegs
3 Least Sandpiper
14 Pectoral Sandpiper
1 Western Sandpiper
Raptors
1 juv Peregrine Falcon (high flyover to the southeast)
1 Adult male Northern Harrier (also a high flyover to the southeast)
1 Merlin (flying high along the licking river)
3 Red-shouldered Hawks
At least 1 adult Bald Eagle
Songbirds
1 Philadelphia Vireo
1 Blue-headed Vireo
1 Black-and-white Warbler
6 Tennessee Warbler
3 Common Yellowthroat
2 Magnolia Wabler
3 Bay-breasted Warbler
1 Blackburnian Warbler
2 Chestnut-sided Warbler
2 Palm Warbler
1 Pine Warbler (singing)
1 Black-throated Green Warbler
1 Wilson's Warbler
75+ Cedar Waxwings
