Sept. 29, 2012: Quite a few migrants passing through the yard this morning.  I 
was debating about whether to set up the winter bird feeders.  Then the junco 
appeared and made up my mind for me.

A friend shot a wood duck last week during the early duck season here in Rowan 
County.  There were 8 acorns (black oak) in the duck's digestive tract.
