Yesterday I spent some time looking a wet spots in Henderson and Union counties
again.
Horseshoe Road ... as Charlie has noted, drying *quickly* ... :-( ... could
only find his Stilt Sandpiper; numbers of common shorebirds lower. There were
still about 150 total Least (but Charlie had reported 300 day before) and 5
Semipalmated Sandpipers. Did hear an Upland Sandpiper again, but again could
not find it. ONLY 9 Great Egrets. Out on the small river bar opposite KY 136 in
this area were single Ring-billed Gull and Least Tern.
Uniontown-Mt. Vernon Road slough ... just a few commoners including 6 Pects.
KY 1574 slough ... nearly dry; just a few Killdeer and a Spotty.
Down in Union County, there were actually a few more birds including another
Stilt Sandpiper at Camp #9, and a decent array of commoners (Pects, Les Yel,
Least, Solitary) at Camp #11 as well as a Forster's Tern.
