Four observers participated on the Ballard County CBC on Monday, December 20th. If I have counted right, including a heard only "yellowlegs sp." there were 94 species reported. Highlights included 4 species of geese including at least 1 Ross's; all regular dabblers; 7 spp. of diving ducks; decent numbers of Red-headed Woodpeckers in the bottomland forests; a Loggerhead Shrike (still can't believe that shrikes are that hard to find in Ballard County!); *7* Pine Warblers (3 loc's); a Le Conte's Sparrow; 2 Chipping Sparrows, at least 50 Rusty Blackbirds, and 8 Brewer's Blackbirds. Horned Larks and Lapland Longspurs were present in surprisingly low numbers. bpb, Louisville
