I set out this morning with a list of 8 target species; most of which were due to procrastination on my part, but better late than never right? Kuttawa was short on ducks and gulls but a male purple finch, number 1 on the list, started the day off right. At Boyd's Landing I added A.w pelican and Horned grebe. Two C. loons at KY dam made # 4 on the list...halfway home now. I decided to hit the pine trees in LBL and made one stop a mile past Hillman's Ferry. I could hear a Red-br nuthatch (#5) when I stepped out of the truck. A minute later I had bird # 6, a Pine warbler, located in a nearby tree. I spent a few more minutes searching through treetops for the Red-br nuthatch and after 2 Golden cr- kinglets, 5 White-br. nuthatches and 2 Brown creepers I finally got him. With a Christmas tree to put up at home I called it a day. I missed Redhead and L.black-back gull. I'll take six out of eight any day.
