For those who have gone to the Lexington Cemetery before and those who have
not and wish to go, there is an updated requirement on where one can
park. I won’t say where we used to park so as not to confuse the issue but
if groups are staging there parking should be on the roads going up from
the Clay Monument/Basswood area. Obviously one can park in other areas
further back in the cemetery but most groups start their walks at the
front.
Thanks, this is one area where we want to keep on the good side of the
staff.

Cemetery was a MOURNING WARBLER. It was in the back hedgerow opposite
from section 30, i.e., roughly in the middle along the hedgerow length.
The bird is seriously secretive, but did sing a couple of times which
helped.
Warbler diversity in general was decent, but they were hard to spot. The
main species were Tennessee, Cape May, Black-throated Green, and
Redstarts, and some of these were singing. But most of the warblers were
foraging completely quietly -- marked preference for oak trees -- and so
the only way to find them was to stare at the leaves and see if
something would eventually move.
Other birds of interest included a late Red-breasted Nuthatch and a late
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in juvenile plumage.
Of non-bird interest, I stumbled across a group of 6+ snakes going
around in a little circle and all over each other. They were also happy
to go over me. I know very little about snake life history -- can anyone
tell me what snakes are doing when they're going round and round in a
group in an area of about 4 square feet?
