Two juvenile Sabine's Gulls were again present on Kentucky Lake above the dam this afternoon, and viewed from the western-most pull-out on the dam. Three adult Lesser-black Backed Gulls and a juvenile Laughing Gull were also present on Kentucky Lake. Three Laughing Gulls of various ages were observed resting on the rock island below Smithland Dam. The Corps of Engineers has continued to allow the level of the lakes to rise, and shorebird habitat is virtually non-existant. A few puddles at Jonathan Creek on Kentucky Lake hosted about a dozen birds with Pectoral and Least Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs, and Wilson's Snipe represented. With the exception of three Spotted Sandpipers, the flats at Blood River, which ordinarily are teaming at this time of year, were devoid of windbirds. :o( Dave __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
