Actually, to further correct things a bit, readers should know that the
Ellis Park Racetrack is MIS-MAPPED on the Ky DeLorme on p. 44, so anyone
knowing where the REAL Ellis Park is shouldn't go looking for the kingbirds
near it :o)
The track on p. 44 is actually a car track, I think. Ellis Park IS correctly
mapped on p. 32, block B-5 of the KY Gazetteer.
From my interpretation of the directions, the birds ARE pretty darned close
to KY across the river from the northern end of Henderson. And there is a
piece of KY on the IN side of the river about 3/4 mile south of the nesting
area.

Greetings Ky birders,
After reading the report on the Western Kingbirds I felt some
correction is needed in the directions that were given. Yesterday 7/1 while
visiting a site in Vanderburgh County Indiana that contains a nesting pair
of Western Kingbirds I made note of one of the birds entering the tree line
from the Ohio River. The birds are in fact nesting in the area across the
river west of the Ellis Park Racecourse, in the Kentucky DeLorme Atlas page
44 grid A 4 and 5.
