I just returned from the bottoms west and north of Brownstown. There were at least 2000 Sandhill Cranes and 3 of their cousins. The bulk of them were located along CR150-115 W (The number changes). The others are along CR300 N, between 225W and 25E. There is a truck from the Crane Foundation following them. These birds are moving around a lot from field to field. From what I was told, the wind the other night brought them over Jasper-Pulaski without setting down. It would be impossible to guess how long they will stay, but historically they spend at least a couple of weeks during the fall migration.
