I had been seeing a couple of Horned Larks in the tobacco patch for some while. Then I found a Horned Lark egg on the ground while hoeing tobacco. Didn't see any nest. I must have destroyed the nest with the tractor cultivator. A dozen or more years ago a pair of Killdeer laid their eggs in a tobacco row so I was able to plow the tobacco without running over the eggs. I plowed that patch several times and had a high boy spray it once while the mother was brooding those eggs, which hatched successfully.
