Some flexibility in start and end dates. Duties include mist-netting and color banding sparrows, finding and monitoring nests, re-sighting marked birds, behavioral observations, vegetation monitoring, and conducting point counts for sparrows and other prairie birds. Technicians also will help with monitoring fire ant distribution and applying experimental management interventions around sparrow nests. Pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $12.00 - 13.00/hr, with simple field-housing provided on site.
