In memory/honor of Jeff Wilson and also to start the Great Backyard Birdcount I spent a windy day in Fulton Co. The little birds were hunkered down, but there were over 1000 Snow Geese in the fields. Northern Pintails were in the hundreds as well as Green-Winged Teals in the Obion bottoms. Long Point had mostly Green-Wing Teals and N. Shovelers plus some Wigeons, Mallards, Gadwalls, a few Ruddy and Ring-necked. Two adult Bald Eagles were sitting on nests, one near the levy and the other across from Lake #9. Ten Northern Harriers were flying low and eleven American Kestrels were clinging to the wires. A loud chorus of spring peepers greeted me as I entered the swampy entrance to Fulton Co.
