As of today, Dixie has not been seen at the cliff site. As committed as
she was to the cliff it is possible that she is deceased.
Boone has now courted 2 adult females and 2 sub-adults. The rehabbed,
banded D97 Lady Dee has now been on site for 20 days and it has been
amazing to watch them go from strangers to a bonded pair. On March 29 they
made two clumsy efforts at copulation. On April 5 they copulated twice and
seem to have figured it all out.
Twenty days is not long for Peregrines to form a relationship though and
the copulation does not mean there will be eggs. Studies show that it is
very rare for a sub-adult to produce eggs and even rarer for a sub-adult to
have young make it to fledge. We can continue to celebrate that Boone
apparently has a new mate and life on the cliff continues.
We can also celebrate that Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky can know about
this successful "graduate" from their program.
This is the first time that I've seen Boone and Dee next to each other so
took lots of photos but only for size and marking comparisons, mind you.

And, my usual caveat. I hope to limit the FB page to those on these
listservs. We will do this pair no favor by advertising them. However, I
do believe I would be selfish to keep their story to myself. There is much
to celebrate together as their story progresses.
