A Black-necked Stilt was present and photographed at McElroy Lake in Warren County this afternoon. This represents only the 6th Kentucky record for this species away from the western Jackson Purchase, and the 2nd county record. The 1st county record was 26-27 April of this year at McElroy. Also present were approximately 200 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 15-20 SemiPlovers, and 6-8 White-rumped Sandpipers. Several Blue-winged Teal and a Coot were observed also as were a few broods of Mallards. The lake is dropping fast now and good shorebird habitat exists. Morgan's Pond in Christian County hosted 10 Ruddy Ducks, a female Lesser Scaup, Coots, and approximately 25 SemiSandpipers. Dave __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
