There was a lone Black-necked Stilt at the Shorebird Unit of the Sloughs (Henderson County) this morning, along with lots of Yellowlegs (both, but mostly Lesser), Pecs, and Snipe and a few Solitaries. Also had FOY House Wren. Stopped briefly at Audubon State Park to look for probable early Worm-eating Warbler I heard on March 30 (99% sure, but couldn't get visual confirmation. Textbook song and perfect habitat, but can't completely rule out the possibility of a particularly diabolical and out-of-place chipping sparrow). No success with the Worm-eater, but did get FOY Orange-crowned. On March 30 at Audubon also had FOY Palm Warbler, Parula, and Black-throated Green. (The Yellow-throateds and Louisiana Waterthrushes have been back for a while--had my first Waterthrush at Audubon on Mar. 19 and first Yellow-throated on Mar. 25). The number of Yellow-rumpeds has exploded in the last couple days.
