Wednesday 9-29-04 The KOS/Beckham Bird Club field trip to Mammoth Cave National Park was held this past Sunday, 9-26-04. Twenty-two observers found 56 species on a beautiful sunny day. Thirteen species of warblers were seen and a Pileated Woodpecker eating poison ivy berries was interesting. Highlights included the warblers: Tennessee, Nashville, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Blk-thr. Green, Yellow-throated, Pine, Prairie, Bay-breasted, Black-and-White, American Redstart, Ovenbird, and Common Yellowthroat. Blue-headed and Philadelphia Vireos were also observed. A very neat little Ring-necked Snake was observed at close range in the Turnhole Bend area of the park. Jackie B.
