Rhonda and I once again kayaked on the Licking River yesterday. We started where we last left off (Blue Licks) and went to the mouth of cedar creek. I calculated it to be about 10 miles. The birds were much quiter than 2 weeks ago. The expected was seen, the unexpected not. We did come across a small rookery of Great Blue Heron. There were at least 4 nest and 8 birds. No birds were still on the nest, but they were in the two large sycamores that held the nest. All were able to fly, but at least 2 were juveniles. The location is Delorme: page 27;h-10 in the big curve under the words "Shepherd Rd" (I think). We also saw a juvenile Kingfisher. The real treat was no other humans for the first 9.5 miles (not even the sound of motors).
