I’ve have one I planted about eight years ago in a dry, more upland setting in
average soil. It is now ten feet tall and wide. When in bloom it draws hundreds
of honey bees and other types. It does suffer during dry spells but seems to
recover.

Subject: [birdky] A Butterfly and Bird Bush
One of the top butterfly attracting plants we have now, also good wiki says for
Wood Ducks, and other birds is...
Button Bush Willow...a wet land plant, that grows very well here in Muhlenberg
Co...has several names.
I have a ton of it in my wildlife fields, in wet spots, along the creek, and
beside my Willow grove and I will never bush hog it again. Perfect for a wet
spot on the property.
Great wildlife plant I have known a long time, but spectacular this year.
Wonder if I can get it to grow in our dry heavy clay soil around our
house....bet we could in a special raised bed, or near where the basement final
drain pipes surface.
