Along with our first "skiff" of snow and the regular feeder birds today
there were a few visitors to the feeders .

First a small, immature Sharp-shinned Hawk came in early and sat in the
cherry tree just a few feet from the feeders. After about 20 minutes it gave
up and took off for the woods after being frustrated by a chickadee only 4
feet above its head.

Later amidst a flock of Common Grackles and Red-winged Blackbirds were three
Rusty Blackbirds.

A lone, immature White-crowned Sparrow fed along the edge of the yard
stream. Three Purple Finches were on the platform feeder, and three Pine
Siskins were feeding on the Nyjer seed (thistle) sock.
