The Russell County Bird Club will be going to the Cove area of Tazewell County for a field trip on Saturday, June 9. We'll meet at the Wardell Park & Ride at 9:00 a.m. The Wardell Park & Ride is located just off US Route 19 (Steelsburg Highway) at Wardell. Going north on 19 from the Lebanon area, turn right on Wardell Road at the first traffic light north of Rosedale. Coming south from Claypool Hill on 19, take a left at the first traffic light south of Claypool Hill. The Park & Ride is on your right immediately after the turn.
On a recent trip to the Cove, several club members found 70 species including Baltimore & Orchard Oriole, Golden-winged and Yellow Warblers, Red-headed Woodpecker, Northern Waterthrush, Bobolink, and Willow Flycatcher. Bring lunch and liquids since the trip will last into the afternoon.
