Hi All,
Some of you may remember Peggy Opengari who, along with her husband Bill,
led bird walks for us in 2006 when the BCBC hosted the VSO annual meeting.
Some of you may also remember her from Burkes Garden in February of this
year. We usually run into her and other members of the New River Valley Bird
Club when we bird that area. Among other things Peggy also helped organize
the New River Valley Birding Festival each year. She was a vivacious person
and a knowledgeable birder.

Roger,
You've probably seen Rexanne's report on the va-bird listserve, but Peggy
Opengari passed away yesterday. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
only four months ago. I had mentioned her illness to Ed and Michelle when
we were at the festival in Grundy, so I wanted to be sure to get this
latest news to them, but I don't have their email address. Would you be
able to pass it along? Her funeral will be Saturday at 4:00 at Christ
Episcopal Church in Blacksburg.
