together to help work out a plan to manage the elk in Southwest VA. If you

Virginia Tech's Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation and the
Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) are working
together to develop an Elk Management Plan for Southwestern Virginia. The
plan's focus will be centered on areas of southwestern Virginia where elk
currently are present or may be expected to move during the plan's 10-year
operational period. As part of this process, we are holding a series of
focus group meetings to gain a better understanding of Virginians' views
toward elk and identify issues of concern among affected stakeholders.
One of the focus group meetings we are holding will be focused on
understanding the views of general conservation interests (e.g., wildlife
viewers, photographers, non-hunters, etc.) in regard to elk and their
management. For this group we are interested in participants who can clearly
articulate their own personal perspectives as well as the opinions and
concerns of others like themselves. We are interested in identifying people
who are knowledgeable, engaged, open-minded and interested in having a
productive dialogue regarding elk and their management in southwestern
Virginia.
