You can also excel at your job and dress nice on top of it. Either way,
your skill is going to show through. But, your skill isn't ever going to
show if you don't get the job. You don't get the job with a bad first
impression. I know several people in the company that have advanced and
have "creative" facial hair. It probably puts less importance on dress but
it's still a factor like it or not.
