Hi Jennifer,
Do you present your library program during curriculum night? I have a
small amount of time to discuss the library program with K-4 parents. I
inform parents that Kindergarten students check out and return a book each
week. If their child does not return their book, then they can not check
out another book during scheduled library class time. The teachers
support me by reminding students in the classroom that library books are
due each week. By placing the library time on the board and class
schedule, it assists students to get into the habit of returning books on
time.
I usually get 100% book return with parents assisting me. K students only
check out one book each week.
