Job Title: High School Library Assistant
Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep’s busy high school library seeks a reliable,
part-time Library Assistant to open the Library at 7:00 am and work until
1:00 pm during the school year (Mid-August to Early June). This position
also includes five weeks of summer school work starting June 13th, 2016,
from 8am-3:30pm.
We invite both candidates who can start immediately or this summer to
apply.
Our library program focuses on preparing our students for university-level
research. The library is a state-of-the-art facility with a warm and
friendly environment, staffed by two full-time librarians and two library
assistants.
We are looking for a tech-savvy multitasker who would enjoy supporting
students and teachers in an academic environment. Must have expertise with
Google Docs, online databases, and audiovisual technology. Sense of humor
and experience working with students a plus. Duties include: perform
clerical routines, including word processing and typing; manage the routine
for the circulation of materials and distribution of equipment; manage
periodical subscriptions, processing and routing; assist students and
teachers in locating materials and using computers; assist in the
supervision of students the Library; assist with inventory; book processing
and repair. Benefits and lunch included.
Candidates must fulfill ONE of the following requirements:

A.A. degree in Library Information Technology (or in progress)
OR
-
BA/BS degree plus Library Information Technology Certificate (or in
progress)
OR
-
At least one-year experience working in a library setting
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory is a Roman Catholic, co-educational
college preparatory high school located a few blocks from San Francisco's
Civic Center. The school is owned by the Archdiocese of San Francisco and
sponsored by the Christian Brothers and the Daughters of Charity. It has a
diverse student population of 1250 students reflecting the demographics of
the city. Although the institution dates back to 1852, the facility is
modern. During the past decade, nearly 100% of students have continued on
to higher education each year.
