No we actually have a set of Dictionary of Literary Biography (220 volumes)
that we're getting rid of so it was the perfect opportunity! Then we ran
around looking for other blue hardbacks - I hope no one wants to read those
in the next month....
If anyone would like a set of Literary Bio books you can have them - they
are looking for a new home. But not until January!

I love the snowman, and I think the advent calendar is a wonderful idea.
We finished our book tree this morning - one of our facilities guys said
"oh, you have an artificial tree!"

This is great Brian! It’s always tough to know if the students will
respond to displays but I think the interactive nature of your display
definitely will heighten the interest!
I went with a secular display with my Snowman built out of books. I saw
this on Pinterest and just couldn’t resist! I’ve seen a few boys chuckle
at it so far this morning. Happy Holidays to all! -- Tana (Bellarmine)

*Subject:* [baisl] Display idea: Library Materials Advent Calendar
Dear BAISLers,
I want to share a display idea that I’m trying out at Saint Mary’s—a
library materials Advent Calendar. I wrapped several books and dvd’s in
holiday paper and bought some small gift bags, candy, and pencils/erasers
from the dollar store. Our campus ministry prints up advent calendars with
wisdom sayings that I cut up and taped to each wrapped book/dvd with a gift
bag. Then I put in an announcement to students letting them know that the
first student to ask on the day would be able to unwrap and check out the
library material and keep the gift bag.
It’s only the second day, but our community is enjoying it, so I wanted to
share it with you as well.
While it is clearly Christian themed, I also put up a sign for Mawlid on
Dec. 1 and have a Menorah for Dec. 12-20. I want to make it as inclusive
as possible while still celebrating Saint Mary’s Catholic identity.
If you try it and come up with ideas to make it better, please let me know!
Thank you everyone for making a great BAISL community and Happy Holidays ☺
Sincerely,
Brian Thomas
