This is great Brian! It’s always tough to know if the students will respond to
displays but I think the interactive nature of your display definitely will
heighten the interest!
I went with a secular display with my Snowman built out of books. I saw this
on Pinterest and just couldn’t resist! I’ve seen a few boys chuckle at it so
far this morning. Happy Holidays to all! -- Tana (Bellarmine)

Subject: [baisl] Display idea: Library Materials Advent Calendar
Dear BAISLers,
I want to share a display idea that I’m trying out at Saint Mary’s—a library
materials Advent Calendar. I wrapped several books and dvd’s in holiday paper
and bought some small gift bags, candy, and pencils/erasers from the dollar
store. Our campus ministry prints up advent calendars with wisdom sayings that
I cut up and taped to each wrapped book/dvd with a gift bag. Then I put in an
announcement to students letting them know that the first student to ask on the
day would be able to unwrap and check out the library material and keep the
gift bag.
It’s only the second day, but our community is enjoying it, so I wanted to
share it with you as well.
While it is clearly Christian themed, I also put up a sign for Mawlid on Dec. 1
and have a Menorah for Dec. 12-20. I want to make it as inclusive as possible
while still celebrating Saint Mary’s Catholic identity.
If you try it and come up with ideas to make it better, please let me know!
Thank you everyone for making a great BAISL community and Happy Holidays ☺
Sincerely,
Brian Thomas
