We have just removed the photocopier from our library. The girls were
tending to photograph and print anything they needed to copy anyway. We
didn't charge to use it, but in the last year and a half I think I used it
three times total, and the girls never. Having said that there is easy
access to a copier in the back room for teachers, so it was an easy call to
send it back.

The only downside I would add is that the kids waste a lot of paper
although we have made some progress by putting up silly signs that say
"Waste all the paper!" as well as reminding them not to print multiple
times without deleting old print jobs. Another pro is that our copier is
hooked up to the student network so they can print to it as well as our
library printer.

printers on campus. We do not charge. Frankly, our copier does not see high
usage. The faculty room copiers are bigger and faster with all the bells
and whistles and those get a lot of use from the faculty. If I were to have
my way, I would have a copier that allows emailing of scanned images. That
is what students tend to want. My current one does not have that capability.
