“Diversity Audits: What, Why, and Most Importantly, How!” -Johnny
Galang, Live Oak School
-
How do you know if your collection reflects the diverse
communities in your school or city? Our country? The world? Get some
practical tips for conducting a diversity audit of your collection
and how
to leverage this information to help direct collection development.
Participants will hopefully walk away with deeper insight into the
importance of this process and hopefully a plan to get started.
-
“Data Collection for Advocacy Within Our Communities” -Christiana
Cuellar, Head-Royce School
-
School Library Advocacy: How Do You Show Your School/Admin What
You Do?. Framing/Context: During this pandemic, our staffing was
kind of decimated and our program took many hits. It's been a
years-long
process to get back to where we were before Spring 2020, and I
believe
using certain metrics along with narrative cohesion helped us get
back on
track.
-
11:30am-12:30pm: LUNCH
-
12:30pm-1:30pm: Session 3
-
“Picture Book Extensions” -Susanne DeRisi, Synergy School

Come prepared to share perfect picture books you have paired
with interesting activities. For example Title: Knuffle Bunny by
Mo Willems. Summary: Trixie and her dad return home from a day of
errands
when Trixie suddenly realizes her special stuffy, Knuffle Bunny, is
missing. This book features collage of drawings and photographs.
Extension
activity: Print a large B&W photograph of the library. Have students
draw
themselves, cut out their drawings, and paste them onto the
photograph.
Grades: TK-K
-
“Scope & Sequence for HS research” -Sarah Murphy & Alex Estrada, Mercy
High School
-
Alex Estrada (English 2 teacher and Head of the English
Department at Mercy High School) and Sarah Murphy (library
co-ordinator at
Mercy), talk about connections between departments and the library,
and how
the development of a scope and sequence for High School research has
helped
fuel deeper collaboration between English, History and the library.
-
“What is Titlewave Analysis & How Can You Use it?” -Cressida
Hanson, Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School
-
Join this roundtable workshop to learn about Titlewave,
Titlewave Analysis, and how you can use them for deep dive collection
analysis and weeding. Please bring your laptop and be prepared
to access your OPAC admin account. All levels of expertise are
welcomed!
