Recker Road, Alta Vista Apartments clubhouse, Mesa. 7 - 9 PM Guest Speakers: Dr. Rich Jacobs - Amateur Astronomer since 1967 will speak and present his outstanding work on CCD imaging. Dr. Jacobs is Chief Medical Officer at Health Net of Arizona and as he says is "a celestial tourist who likes to keep a visual record of my visits". He has been published in both Astronomy and Sky and Telescope magazines and presently has published the cover image and several inside images in the 2003 Official Vatican Observatory Calendar. Dr. Matthew Fouch - Assistant Professor, ASU Department of Geological Sciences. He will be speaking on "Views of the Deep Earth: A Southern Africa Perspective". The primary goal of his research is to understand Earth's internal structure and processes. Specifically using seismology and geophysics to examine the interior of the earth from crust to core by use of techniques that combine both data analysis and numerical methods. A primary tool for these investigations is the broadband seismometer array.
