The problem I find with U2 for star-hopping is that there are often so
many galaxies shown (that no one will ever see) that it can distract
from forming the star patterns you need to identify in the finder or
field.

However, it would be great to have U2 chart numbers in the SAC database.
I often GOTO something taken from NGC numbers in the SAC database and
wonder what else might be in the immediate vicinity. It would be great
to be able to just go the page without looking up the page number in the
NGC index in the back.

Here is the dream: For each NGC object, not only the page number in U2,
but an index as to where you can quickly find it on the page. For
example: (like locations on old geographic surveys):  p. 67, SW1/4;
NE1/4, SE 1/4. This means, "Go to page 67; look in the southwest 1/4 of
the northeast 1/4 of the southeast 1/4 of the page". Bingo; no having
to look up RA, Dec to find on the page.

Given the Willman-Bell charting algorithms, someone smarter than me can
probably come up with the algorithms to do this for the whole NGC
catalog in one run. The circumpolar areas would be a lot of fun.

And, while you are at it, maybe do U1 as well?

Just a dream, but AJ started it.
