[AZ-Observing] SOFIA Project

Most of you probably know by now that the SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory
for Infrared Astronomy is facing cancellation in the FY 2007 budget. Since
learning of this at the April meeting from Dr. Ted Dunham, I've offered
SAC's help in resurrecting this unique project.
To that end, Ted has indicated the best thing we could do is to let our
congress men know that we as a community support this mission. I've had Stan
create a link on our webpage with a sample letter that can be used as a
template to write your elected officials. There is also a document with
advise on what to say, what NOT to say and how to say it. It also contains a
link to locate the address of your representatives.
Please take the time to look this over and let your congressional
representative know you support the SOFIA mission.
Also, Please pass the word to anyone you may think would have an interest in
helping out.
