Hi Steve,
Susan and I were coming back from where my bluegrass band
played in Alpine. Ran into extreme rain and 1/2 mile of hail
that turned the road white. No big hail fortunately.
Then as we came into town, we encountered the dust storm. Not
too bad coming in from Fountain Hills but lots of rain. Fair amount
of dust...
So Northern AND Eastern Arizona in the mountains both
had some "interesting" weather on Sunday. :-)
Thanks,
Howard

Howdy all;
Well, as much as I would hope for some decent weather for observing from
Northern Arizona in time for New Moon, today is not encouraging. I decided
to drive into Flagstaff this afternoon to stop at the bank, have lunch and
then get some groceries.Â
About half way into town I drove into the most powerful hail storm I have
every seen. Hailstones the size of golf balls and lots of them for miles.Â
I pulled off the road and it seemed to let up and once I was back on the road
it started up again with a fury. I finally drove out from under it as I got
even with Lake Mary. This is my 40th year in Arizona and this is the most
ferocious storm I have ever endured. Fortunately, no damage to the Saturn
SUV.
We shall see about clear skies;Steve Coe
