When I used to take my "push to" Dob to outreach events I loved to show Orion.
Great to see, lots going on, and so big I didn't have to adjust the FOV often.
I asked kids, "What color do you see ?"
"Blue" or "blue-green" meant I was on target.
"Black" meant it was adjustment time.
Twice in ten years I was told "Red" !
It is there for sure .... only a few of us ever see it outside of a photo.

I agree - The Orion Nebula never gets old. It is one of my backyard
binocular targets this time of year. I think it is a great image. Two
questions:
- The color seems very pink-red, do different exposure times bring out more,
or different colors? Or is this from filter selection and image stacking?
- The larger stars in the image have "starburst" effect. Is this an
artifact of long exposure times, the filters used, or something else?
Again, great image. It makes me want to get off the couch and go to see if
it is visible. Even if it is, the view won't be nearly as nice as this.

Okay, it has been imaged by everyone on the planet with a telescope and
camera, but it never gets old. This is my version of the Orion Nebula in
LRGB. I did a narrowband version s couple of weeks ago and this is the same
FOV in LRGB. This is an emission nebula about 1500 light years away in the
constellation Orion.
