Hi Dean,

Save your money and grab the T3i.  You get a great 18 MPixel camera that can 
shoot real HD video and then doctor it up in fast frame mode in your favorite 
NLE and get a really smooth time-lapse.  Or, if you still want interval 
exposures, the DIGIC 4 in the T3i can keep up with some pretty stiff button 
pressing as long as you use a class 10 SD card.
