Hi Dan,

They actually imaged the star and disk (at nearly 2,000 light years).  
The Mt Wilson system can resolve a nickel at 10,000 miles. I don't  
think the JWST can come close to that. The CHARA is the eqivalent of a  
1,000 foot, 12,000 inch telescope.

Once the eclipse is over since the eclipsing body does not radiate, it  
cannot be seen.
