"This thing" is WT1190F, probably a piece of
space junk, about which orbit-wizard Bill Gray
(of Project Pluto software fame) has just posted
an update on the Minor Planet Mailing List.
He mentions that older data back to 2009 are now linked,
though his Web page about the object does not
include it yet:

This has an orbit diagram and maps showing
just where it should hit. Looks as though
you could stand on the beach on the south
end of Sri Lanka in a couple of weeks and
watch it come in.

Notice the number of amateurs all over the world
who contribute to this.
