Hi folks,

As was announced a few weeks ago, AVAPL is moving its listserv from the current FreeLists to Google Groups. This is being done to ensure that the listserv can continue to handle the volume of messages it receives and to address issues of the privacy of the messages on the listserv. Google Groups has an option that allows for archives to be maintained that will not be discoverable by search engines. All current members have now had their e-mail addresses moved to Google Groups, and I will make the final switch this weekend so that Google Groups manages the listserv. You should continue to use the e-mail address members1@xxxxxxxxx to send your messages to the listserv.

As part of the transition to Google Groups, the number of people on the listserv was reduced. The AVAPL listserv is for the use of AVAPL members only. The FreeLists roster contained several e-mail addresses of people who are no longer members of AVAPL. The new Google Groups roster contains only those who are AVAPL members. If you have not received a message welcoming you to Google Groups, it might be because the membership list does not include your name. If you have not renewed your dues and would like to continue to be a member of AVAPL (and participate in the listserv), you may renew your dues on the AVAPL website, http://www.avapl.org. If you believe you have been removed from the listserv in error, please contact the AVAPL Treasurer, Dr. Ann Landes, for an update on your membership.

Thanks,

Jeff Burk
