So Much To Do?So Little Time Caine and Hannah walked back to her quarters in silence. It had been a few days since the funeral and Hannah still hadn?t spoken much since the incident and Caine was beginning to worry. She knew it was normal for a child to withdraw into themselves after experiencing a traumatic event, such as watching their parent be killed, but due to Hannah?s mental history, this silence worried Caine more then it would have if Hannah had not reacted to her mothers death the way she did. There was a light tug on Caine?s arm and she looked down at the beautiful child at her side. Hannah let go of Caine?s hand and raised her arms up, in a manner such to show that she wanted to be picked up. With a small smile on her face, Caine bent over and picked Hannah up, letting the weight of the child go completely to her right side. Even though she had gone to sick bay and had gotten her left side taken care of, it still hurt. Hannah layed her head against Caine?s shoulder and began to play with the woman?s bright blonde hair. The strands were being twisted around the child?s fingers as Hannah stared, awed by the silkiness of Caine?s hair. But still she said nothing. Caine approached the door to her quarters. Walking through, she let Hannah slid to the floor and watched as she moved off to what was now her bedroom. As soon as Hannah had disappeared into her bedroom, Caine fell back against the couch and closed her eyes. She felt so drained. The past few days had sucked the strength right from her and all Caine wanted to do was curl up and sleep for a decade. Laying her head back against the couch, she let her thoughts drift. They had just gotten back to their own time and Caine knew she would have to do a million crew check ups, to make sure everyone was able to handle the situation and move past it healthily. She also had to find out if Hannah had any living relatives and if she did, Caine was going to have to contact them and let them know what happened and if Hannah did have a living relative, Caine was going to have to turn the child over to that person, which was something that Caine didn?t want to think about. She knew it was selfish, but she wanted to keep Hannah and to raise her. Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes and moved wearily over to the kitchen, preparing to make something for dinner. Caine wasn?t even sure she knew how to raise a child but she wanted to give it a try so badly, but she also worried about Javan, whether he wanted to or not, if Caine was able to keep Hannah, he would be pulled in, that is if he still wanted Caine after he found out that she knew the truth about his job, which was another thing that worried Caine immensely. She knew but she wasn?t about to tell anyone and she wanted so badly for Javan to come to her and tell her the truth. Everything seemed to be pileing down on top of her. She needed to talk to Javan so badly, but she hadn?t seen him since leaving the bridge in search for Hannah. Caine let out a sigh as she thought again of what she read of her own future. She really needed to talk to Javan. Ohh, there was so much she had to do. Forcing her thoughts away from work and her to do list, Caine called Hannah out for dinner and together they ate in compainable silence, trying not to think of the recent past or coming future. ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
