Fates Amended by Lieutenant Anthony Manson As the Avalon sped to warp, the Octavius veered of with her enemy ship in tow. Things should get interesting. As far as Ensign Tate had on sensors, the temporal device had be activated but no changes within subspace was happening. Yet. It would take a few seconds, or even a few minutes depending on the ship adapted to it; and other temporal considerations to take into mind. But it wasn?t the waiting that K?len minded, it was the anticipation of shifting the timeline. The new life she could be faced with. "Captain, sensors are picking up four warships on attack vector. They?ve detected our cloaking signatures! Estimated time is in two minutes." K?len rose from her chair, "disengage the cloak and the tractor beam," K?len tapped the ships communication, "all hands to battle stations." The lights went dim as silent red alert blinked in a steady pace. "They?ve dropped out of warp." "Status of the Avalon." "They?ve been gone for a good minute now. Still no signs of subspace changes. Captain, they?re powering weapons." "Move into attack pattern omega, I want us out of their territory. Power weapons, and redouble the shield output." The ship then rocked as the Octavius was pummeled with streaking stars of mass destruction. "Direct hits, shields at sixty percent and..." Tate went immediately silent as the console in front of her erupted and sent her flying. "Tactical! Return fire, Commander get onto the helm..." K?len had reflexively blinked. But they didn?t open as the universe seem to stream by. Stars streaked as warp speeds as the history went backwards. The wars, the genocide, the never ending chaos that befell this foul space. Where homes were no longer save havens and even the innocents who had nothing to do with the war were opportunistic targets like anyone. A streak of pure light went by and as the images became faster, it broke apart and the light became brighter, bigger, and grew faster. "...station." "Captain?" K?len opened her eyes as she turned toward her right to the sound that had clearly addressed her. She quickly came to remember they were on a station. "Yes, Ensign?" She looked at the ship before her. It was sleek, a step above the Sovereign class starships she recalled almost four hundred years ago. It was a peace ship, and the new jewel of the Alliance. It seemed familiar somehow, some part of the ship made it seem like a predator. The mere thought sent her mind on a state of confusion. It did sound familiar, but it amounted to nothing. Tate smiled a little bit having set the shuttle on auto pilot and the shuttle procedures being long since cleared, "ma?am I was just telling you about the new ship. The Octavius." K?len nodded, having remembered their conversation. She already knew about the Octavius, it?s purpose, even to the schematics and durability as the new exploration ship. K?len, having set some major diplomatic feats with several new species in the alpha and beta quadrant. She earned her a spot as Captain and now her new ship awaited her. Her new mission was strictly for diplomacy and exploration. With the blessings of the most mixed crew aboard a starship, K?len was eager to immerse herself in the diverse crew. The shuttle landed home and K?len walked out. Her senior officers were among the unique since her time with Starfleet. A klingon first officer, a romulan tactical officer, and a cardassian engineer. K?lens eyes went back to the klingon officer, he too looked familiar. "Is there something wrong ma?am?" K?len smiled, "no, no there isn?t." It was then Ensign Tate joined the small crowd. "Utopia Planatia has informed us we are clear to set sail, ma?am." K?len nodded, "let?s get to work." --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo! HotJobs
