"Boarding The Avalon" Cmdr. Skyler, Mir'ast'hera and Ensign O'Donnell Looking out at the strange looking ship Skyler had hoped that by now the Captain would be on the bridge, however it didn't appear as if that was going to happen. Of course nothing normal ever happened on her shift. "This is Commander Skyler of the USS Avalon to the R'ish'tka ship. Please respond." Mir'ast'hera twitched her mandibles slightly as this strange voice came from the communications system. It was speaking partly in her language, it knew her peoples name. Suddenly a strange looking shape appeared in her viewport, was that where the voice came from. Her Majesty was right! I wonder if they look like us? "Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?" The voice coming from the other ship was slightly distorted simply because the universal translator was trying to comprehend what was being sent to it. "I am Commander Skyler and yes I can hear you. Do you require assistance?" She turned and looked at James, "Is there anyway we can get a visual as well as the audio?" James shook his head in frustration, "I am still working on it ma'am." "Let me know when you get it James." James simply nodded his head and went back to pounding away at his console. The language was more understandable this time. "This is the R'ish'tk Space Vessel. I am stranded, hit by something. Systems down, no way home." "R'ish'tk Space Vessel, do you have visual capabilities? How far are you from home and what is the condition of your vessel?" "Condition critical, Faster-than-light drive dead, Thrusters down." Visual capabilities? The arachnid rubbed her suit with her forelegs. "Home is in this system." "Yes, you know visual capabilities, so that we can see what you look like and you can see what we look like. I am sure that my Captain will want to meet with you. I am sure you will find him to be a fair and kind man. What kind of atmosphere do you require? If we are to bring you aboard our ship we can make the atmosphere or gravity such that it fits you. Do you understand?" Again the message was garbled. "I cannot see you? Captain? What is a man? Atmosphere is for breathing?" Mir'ast'hera was confused and her mandibles began to show her irritation with her situation, clicking feverishly. Skyler was getting frustrated. How was she supposed to explain what a man was? "Mir'ast'hera a man is the opposite of a girl or female. I am a female, my captain, who is the one who is in charge of this ship is a man. Don't worry about the atmosphere, we have scanned your ship and determined that you should be able to breathe just fine on our ship. We have also made adjustments so that the gravity on our ship is equal to that of your ship. Do you wish to come aboard our ship?" A male in charge? That went against everything. Interesting to study though. "Come aboard? Leave my vessel here? Not acceptable." "What do you mean not acceptable? We can bring your vessel aboard our ship if that will make you feel better? We can have our engineers take a look at it to see if they can fix it. Is that satisfactory to you?" You would think that someone whose ship is in critical condition would be willing to accept any help offered... "Acceptable, yes. Thank you." "We will have your ship aboard momentarily. You will feel our tractor beams lock on and pull you into one of our cargo bays." Looking at James, Skyler spoke, "Bring the ship aboard to Cargo Bay 1 and make sure to adjust the gravity for our guest." She then pushed the comm on her chair, "Ensign O'Donnell, this is Cmdr Skyler, meet me in Cargo Bay 1 immediately." Lyta you have the bridge. Skyler got up and made her way to the cargo may wondering what was in store for her. Rolling her eyes Mary tapped her badge "Acknowledged Ma'am." Having kept a watching brief on the communications with the alien vessel she snagged a phaser rifle as she left the Security office. The tractor beam locked onto the alien vessel and brought it into the shuttle bay. Skyler stood outside the door, having put on magnetic boots before entering the bay. She waited for the security officer to appear. She tapped her comm-badge, "Captain Ketchum, we have brought the alien vessel aboard and it is currently in the shuttle bay." Skyler was pacing the hall waiting for O'Donnell to appear. She herself was exactly over eager to make first contact with a new race, after all she wasn't much of a diplomat. She spotted the security officer coming down the hall. "Grab a pair of magnetic boots. We can't enter the bay without them." Once she had her boots on, Skyler opened the shuttle bay doors. Upon entering she gasped at the size of the vessel and wondered exactly how big this alien was.
